We arrived after midnight and were greeted on arrival by attentive staff. The single rooms are small, but pleasant and great value and mine had a lovely new shower suite although my friend's wasn't as new and nice. Breakfast was good including hot food that arrived promptly. The hotel had a lingering smokey smell that was difficult to locate (it didn't appear to come from the kitchen, perhaps guests have been smoked inside despite being asked not too). Parking was provided and Newcastle is small enough that a taxi into town on NYE still cost less than £7, so it suited us fine. Recommended if you are on a budget.
I stayed one night while on a cycling trip. The hotel was everything I needed at the end of a long day....warm, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and I had a really good night's sleep. The continental breakfast was good and offered all I needed to prepare for another day cycling. The assistant who served me at breakfast was efficient and polite. The hotel is located in Jesmond , a very nice area of Newcastle with lots of bars, eating places and shops nearby. The Turkish restaurant which is part of the hotel looked good but I did not need to eat. Parking is quite limited at the rear of the hotel and parking on surrounding streets is limited to permit holders only, but this did not cause me a problem. Would stay at the Dene Hotel again.
Brilliant hotel just perfect for our needs, we arrived early in the morning, parked the car and let them know we had arrived and wouldn't be back until late. The night porter would check us in then. The room was modern and bright with a modern bathroom and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was continental buffet which was good. The location of the hotel is great with bars and restaurants close by and only a 5 minute trip in a taxi to the centre. We will definitely stay again.
